Cherries accept Bristol City’s bid for striker

Bristol City’s chase of AFC Bournemouth striker Lee Tomlin finally looks set to come to an end after the south coast club accepted a transfer bid of around £2 million for the player according to the Bristol Post.

The 27 year old striker had a hugely successful spell on loan at Ashton Gate last season after failing to make an impact in the Premier League with parent club AFC Bournemouth and after weeks of negotiations Tomlin is now on the verge of ending his Dean Court misery by joining The Robins.

Tomlin joined The Cherries from Middlesbrough last summer for a reported £3.5 million transfer fee after the Teessiders failed to gain promotion to the Premier League but the striker struggled to adapt to life in the top flight making just 10 appearances for newly promoted AFC Bournemouth scoring once.

After falling out of favour at Dean Court, the striker signed for Bristol City on loan at the end of January and soon became a fans’ favourite after scoring six goals in 18 appearances for the club.

The impact which Tomlin made at Ashton Gate impressed Robins boss Lee Johnson and the club were determined to bring the player back on a permanent basis. Should the formalities of the transfer be completed, Bristol City will finally land their man in the coming days.
