Norwich City star completes Saints move

Southampton have completed the signing of Norwich City midfielder Nathan Redmond after the player passed a medical at St Mary’s Stadium according to The Mirror.

The 22 year old Birmingham born winger has penned a lucrative five year deal with the south coast club with Southampton paying Norwich City an £11 million transfer fee for the player’s services.

The Saints have beaten off competition from Stoke City to land the player while Redmond will partly replace attacker Sadio Mane at St Mary’s Stadium who is set to join Liverpool in a deal worth around £30 million and Victor Wanyama who has left the club to join former manager Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.

Southampton have finally captured Redmond after chasing the player for a number of weeks. The Saints have had to bide their time to land the winger with Redmond being away on international duty with England Under 21s in the Toulon Tournament and spending time with his family on holiday.

Redmond is a product of the academy set up at Birmingham City and the winger went on to make 82 appearances for The Blues and scored nine goals. In summer 2013, the player joined Norwich City in a deal worth up to £3.2 million and Redmond went on to enjoy a productive spell at Carrow Road scoring 13 goals in 122 appearances for the club.

After losing one of his key players, Norwich City manager Alex Neil is now set to search the transfer market for a replacement for the outgoing winger.
