Reading are hoping to beat Marseille to the signing of Anthony Koura according to a report from Get Reading.
The 23-year-old striker spent last season at French club Nimes but is now up for grabs after becoming a free agent at the end of his contract this summer.
It seemed like he would be staying in France though after it was reported that Marseille had offered him a four year deal and anyone would agree that it would be a tough offer to turn down a deal from one of the biggest teams in France.
But more recent reports have suggested that Marseille’s deal for Koura has falled through and Reading are eager to come through and sign the forward. In 27 appearances for Nimes last season, he scored nine goals and has attracted plenty of attention because of it. While Reading are interested now, reports from earlier in 2016 said that even Arsenal were considering making an approach.
Koura started his career at Cheminots du Mans but soon moved onto the academy at le Mans where he made his professional debut. After a short loan spell with Luzenac, he moved to Nimes in 2013 and started to build his reputation there until he was released this summer.
