QPR complete deal for Polish international

QPR have signed Ariel Borysiuk from Polish club Legia Warsaw for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to QPR for a while as they aimed to sign a new midfielder and after weeks of speculation he finally penned a three year deal with the club.

This is the first signing of the summer for head coach Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, taking charge of his first pre-season after he was appointed as the manager of the R’s and shows their new transfer recruitment strategy in action. The club are hoping to sign more players from abroad as they tend to cost less than players from the Football League as well as demand smaller wages. The signing of Borysiuk is a clear indication of this strategy and with the club also linked with John Bostock, currently playing in Belgium, it’s a strategy that looks like it will continue.

Following the completion of the signing, Hasselbaink said,

“I am delighted we’ve signed him, because he is a player I really wanted to bring to this football club.

“I believe Ariel’s game is built for English football. He likes to get stuck in and stamp his authority on games. He’s young, committed and plays with great passion.

“Most of his good work goes unnoticed, but when he’s not playing, you miss him – and that’s a good quality for a defensive-minded midfield player.”
