Millwall swoop for released Fulham defender

Millwall have signed Shaun Hutchinson from Fulham on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

As the Lions aim to add to their squad so they can go one step further and get promoted from League 1 this season and can now boast they have a new defender after Hutchinson signed a two year deal with Millwall with the option of another twelve months after his contract expired at Fulham.

Hutchinson signed for Fulham in 2014 following their relegation from the Premier League but despite being a regular he struggled and was sent off on two different occasions. Last season saw him drop out of the first team and only went on to make 11 appearances and considering the Cottagers had one of the worst defences in the league last season, Hutchinson not getting into the first team was not the best sign that he would be staying at Craven Cottage after this season.

After signing for Millwall, Hutchinson said,

“I’m really happy to be here. I met up with Neil (Harris) last week and he really sold the club to me. The manager has been working very hard to get me in and that is a nice thing to know. Coming to work at a place where you are so wanted is a great feeling.”

“I can’t wait to get going and am looking forward to putting on the Millwall shirt.”
