Former manager set to return to Bradford City dugout

Stuart McCall is set to be appointed as Bradford City’s new manager and begin his second reign according to a report from BBC Sport.

The Bantams have been looking for a new manager after Phil Parkinson decided to leave the club to become the new manager of Bolton Wanderers.

And now it appears that Bradford’s former manager Stuart McCall is set to return to the club. After a brief spell as caretaker manager all the way back in 2000 when Bradford were in the Premier League, he took charge of Bradford permanently in 2007. McCall struggled to keep Bradford going as they suffered a number of financial problems which caused the playing budget to be constantly cut and ended up resigning after a number of poor results.

Since then, McCall has moved back north of the border and was able to rebuild his managerial reputation at Motherwell. He led the club to new successes they had never experienced before which including qualification for the Champions League. he left the club shortly after the start of the 2014/15 season which saw Motherwell start badly.

Most recently he has been part of the coaching staff of Rangers and was the caretaker manager towards the end of the 2014/15 season but after the job was given to Mark Warburton on a permanent basis, he left. He ha slaso been the number three for Gordon Strachan for the Scotland national side, though he will leave that role to become the new Bradford manager.
