Premier League teams scared off as Newcastle slap stunning value on Dutch star

Premier League teams are starting to withdraw their interest in Georginio Wijnaldum after Newcastle United told them that he was being valued at £30m according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Wijnaldum does want to leave the St James Park after they were relegated from the Premier League and it appeared that it would be a smooth exit from the club as teams such as Napoli, Southampton and Everton were all said to be interested in signing him.

However when Roma, who are looking to replace Miralem Pjanic who left to join Italian giants Juventus, inquired into the value of the Dutch international, they received the shocking price of £30m. This is just over double the £14.5m fee that Newcastle paid PSV Eindhoven only a year ago.

While Wijnaldum certainly had a good season for the Magpies after scoring 13 goals in all competitions, no one could have imagined that his value would have risen so sharply and these reports are now suggesting that the interested parties are not willing to pay that fee. Roma sold Pjanic, the man they are replacing, for around that fee and it would certainly take huge chunks of Southampton and Everton’s budget away if they were willing to pay up.
