Championship duo challenge Celtic for Scottish sensation

The Courier reports that Scottish giants Celtic are in talks with Dunfermline Athletic youngster PJ Crossan, but two Championship clubs are also monitoring the situation. Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion are said to have scouted the 17-year-old last season.

Crossan impressed in the Under-20 side with the Scottish club and eventually made his breakthrough into the first-team fold towards the end of last season. Dunfermline won the Scottish League One title and have offered Crossan a new deal, with him currently being out of contract at this stage.

If the player were to join Celtic, Nottingham Forest, Brighton or anyone else, then the Pars would be entitled to compensation in the form of a development fee.

Allan Johnstone is desperately hoping to have Crossan in his first-team squad for their Scottish Championship campaign next season but may find it extremely difficult to hold off the challenge of clubs like Celtic or those south of the border.

Crossan only made two substitute appearances with the first-team last season but his exploits in their youth ranks has seen his stock significantly rise over the past year. He will  turn 18 in October and the sky really is the limit for this youngster, who was already made his first-team debut and could possibly be moving clubs before that landmark as well.

In the video below, Crossan can be seen scoring the fifth goal of the development squad clash between Dunfermline and Dundee United.
