5 England manager candidates from the Championship – what the odds say

Roberto Di Matteo – Aston Villa (100/1)

Again, this is one you would think is very, very, very unlikely to happen. The FA are likely to stick down the English route anyway, but one thing that stands Di Matteo above most in the entire betting list is that he is a Champions League winning manager. He deserves plenty of credit for that as he did galvanize that Chelsea team together.

He is another who has served his apprenticeship in management to a degree. It all started off at MK Dons, before the move to West Bromwich Albion came about. He took both of those jobs when they were in the Football League.

In addition to his Champions League medal, he has an FA Cup title on his coaching CV, whilst he also took West Brom into the Premier League in 2010 after finishing runners-up in the Championship.

Of course, all of his focus is on Aston Villa right now, but further down the line he may want to enter international management, probably with Italy if given the choice.
