The Euro 2016 Championship kicked off this weekend with host France entertaining Romania in what proved to be an interesting game settle d by a moment of sublime skill from France’s Dimitri Payet – resulting in a 2-1 victory for Les Blues.
The Euros brings together the cream of Europe’s talent all striving to give their all for their respective teams. Players from Europe’s Big-5 Leagues (the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga) all square off against each other as teams battle through the group stages towards the knockout phases.
However, leagues away from each country’s top tier competition are also well represented at the Euro 2016 Championships; indeed there are more players from English divisions (36) outside of the Premier League than there are from France’s top tier competition Ligue 1.
