Di Matteo talks with quartet about moves to Villa Park

The summer rebuilding project at Aston Villa is set to begin within the next seven days with manager Roberto Di Matteo already in talks to bring four new players to the club according to the Daily Mail.

It has been reported that the new Villa boss is currently trying to complete deals for a goalkeeper, defender, winger and a striker.

Reports have indicated that a £3million deal for an unnamed defender from a Premier League club is thought to be close to completion although deals for the other three potential signings could be some way off being sealed.

The ongoing takeover at Villa Park is finally expected to be completed during the next week and Villa manager Di Matteo has been actively making preparations in the transfer market for when the club is finally placed under the ownership of Chinese tycoon Tony Xia.

Checks on the financial aspect of Xia’s takeover have been completed and no issues have been raised and it has been reported that Villa’s new prospective owner will meet with the Football League early next week to discuss the final terms of the takeover deal and to gain final acceptance of the sale.

Aston Villa finished last season bottom of the Premier League after a miserable campaign and a huge overhaul of the squad will take place this summer with the aim of gaining an immediate return to the top flight next May.
