Leeds United and Aston Villa eyeing up Swedish striker

According to a report from Swedish website Fotbolldirekt, Leeds United and Aston Villa are keeping tabs on forward Marcus Antonsson.

Cardiff City are also touted as having interest in the 25 year-old who currently plies his trade for Kalmar FF in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

The striker has been in inspired form this season for the Red Brothers and is currently leading the league in scoring – netting ten goals in just 12 games.

Antonsson has scored over 50% of his side’s goals so far this season but the club are only ninth in the league with just four wins to their name.

Scoring in the first four games of the season, after eight games Antonsson had already amassed nine goals – better than a goal-a-game ratio.

His agent, Anders Karlsson, added fuel to the fire surrounding a potential transfer by saying that “interest is huge [in the player]” and that “there is activity with foreign clubs”.

Starting his career with second tier club Halmstads BK, Antonsson spent four years with HBK netting 11 league goals in 71 outings before moving to Kalmar in 2015.

Since his arrival at the Guldfageln Stadium, the striker has had an impressive goal scoring record – netting 22 goals in just 39 games.
