Fulham in the market for Wales midfielder

Championship side Fulham are hoping to complete a deal which would bring Wigan Athletic midfielder Emyr Huws to the club. The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Huddersfield Town, is a transfer target for Slavisa Jokanovic according to the Daily Mail.

It is understood that League One champions Wigan value the player at £2.5million. He was named in the provisional Wales Euro 2016 squad, only to be cut when Chris Coleman finalised his 23.

Last season was the most amount of matches Huws has started in the professional game. He started just over half of Huddersfield’s Championship games, scoring five goals in the process, included this deflected strike against Nottingham Forest:

A loan spell at Wigan in 2014 was made permanent later in the year, signing a four-year contract in the process. However he has only started ten games for the Latics since that permanent switch, so it remains to be seen if Gary Caldwell is prepared to listen to offers for the player.

It all began at Manchester City for Huws, making just the one first-team appearance during his stay, that coming as a substitute in the FA Cup replay against Blackburn Rovers in January 2014.

A more productive loan spell at Birmingham City would follow, where he began to attract more and more admirers across the Football League. In his time with the Blues, he won the Club Goal of the Season Award thanks to this unstoppable strike against Middlesbrough:
