Southampton make approach for Norwich winger

Southampton have joined the race to sign Norwich City’s Nathan Redmond after making an enquiry for him according to a report from Read Southampton.

It has been expected since Norwich were relegated to the Championship that Redmond would be leaving the club after their manager Alex Neil revealed that eight Premier League teams had made an enquiry into his availability.

And while it seemed as if Stoke City were leading the race to sign Redmond, it has now turned out that Southampton are also looking into signing the England youth international. While the Saints still have uncertainty in the managerial post due to Ronald Koeman’s links to the vacant Everton’s manager job, they are still looking to boost their squad ahead of a season which will see them compete in the Europa League.

And now with just one year left on his contract, Redmond will have a choice to make as he decides which team he will move to.

The 22-year-old winger has been seen as one of the hottest talents in the country ever since he broke through into the first team at Birmingham City. He would then make a big money move to the Premier League when he joined Norwich in 2013 though they were soon relegated and he was playing in the Championship again.
