Sheffield Wednesday join race for £12m rated striker

Sheffield Wednesday are the latest team to become interested in Fulham’s Ross McCormack according to a report from the Daily Mail.

While the Owls already have a strong front line thanks to the likes of Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper, they are looking to make a statement signing, as urged by club legend Chris Waddle, after losing out in the play off final to Hull City.

And signing McCormack would certainly be a statement of intent. The 29-year-old striker is seen as one of the best strikers in the Championship after scoring 23 goals last season. But he will not be coming cheap as Fulham are demanding at least £12million for the forward.

And Wednesday will face a battle to sign him as well. The recently relegated teams Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also said to be interested while earlier in the transfer window McCormack said that he wanted to move to the Premier League and not another Championship team.

The Scottish international came through the Rangers academy and after brief spells with Doncaster Rovers and Motherwell, he moved to Cardiff where he started to build his reputation. However he became known as one of the best strikers in the league during his four year spell with Leeds United which earned him his big money move to Fulham.
