Wolves hope to finally complete deal for striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers are hoping to finally get their man with long term target Idrissa Sylla set to leave current club Anderlecht should the club find a suitable replacement according to the Express & Star.

Wolves manager Kenny Jackett has long been an admirer of the 25 year old Guinean striker and it has been reported that the club have submitted a transfer offer in the region of £2.3 million for the player’s services.

Sylla has been likened to former England striker Chris Waddle in terms of his style of play and it is thought that Wolves are one of a number of clubs interested in signing the player.

The striker started his career in France with Le Mans where he scored 14 goals in 52 appearances before moving to Belgium to join Zulte Waregem who paid an estimated £100,000 for the player. After scoring 14 goals in 47 appearances for Essevee, Sylla left the Regenboogstadion last year to join current club Anderlecht.

Sylla has impressed during his time in purple and white scoring seven goals in 34 appearances for the club despite often being limited to substitute appearances. The striker helped Anderlecht to second place in the Belgian Pro League last season while Sylla also gained experience of playing in European competition in the Europa League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are short on striking options with Nouha Dicko and Joe Mason currently the only senior forwards on the books at Molineux and the signing of Sylla would add a new dimension to the club’s attack as they aim to beat last season’s Championship goal total of 53.
