Former striker concedes he shouldn’t have left Nottingham Forest

Nathan Tyson has admitted in comments made to the In The Mixer TV that he should never have left Nottingham Forest.

The now 34-year-old striker had signed all the way back in 2006 when Forest were in League 1 and helped them to get promotion back to the Championship. He went on to make 176 appearances and score 33 goals but after failing to come to agreement on a new deal in 2011, he left the club and joined their fierce East Midlands rivals Derby County.

Now that Tyson is starting to reflect on his career following his release from Doncaster Rovers after they were relegated to League 2, he has looked back on that time five years ago and admitted that he probably shouldn’t have left the club and that he’d probably be in a better place if he had stayed at the City Ground. Tyson said,

“I do wish I’d never left, but it was a case of having to jump before I was pushed.

“I still live in the Nottingham area and keep in touch with some of the boys there, including Jamie Ward and Chris Cohen.

“My daughter plays for the Academy – but I do miss playing at the City Ground.

“I still get shivers down my spine when I think back to the Yeovil game (where Forest won promotion to the Championship in 2008), that was special.

Now though Tyson will hope to move on and find a new club following his release from Doncaster.
