Chris Wilder snatches Burton Albion winger from Charlton

Sheffield United have persuaded Mark Duffy to sign for them on July 1st once he becomes a free agent despite Charlton offering a larger financial packet, according to local reports.

The 30 year old winger, Mark Duffy planning to be released from Burton Albion on July 1st, has confirmed that he will be heading to Sheffield instead of the Valley next season.

Mark Duffy was named as a player in the PFA League One Team of the Year Award after an exceptional campaign with Burton Albion, which saw Burton witness two consecutive promotions in the past two seasons.

Despite the fact that Charlton Athletic offered him a larger financial packet and benefits to join the South East London side on their campaign next season, the winger has rejected the approach and offer, instead accepting a lesser one from Sheffield United.

It would seem that Chris Wilder who did a massive U-turn when it was looking likely he would become the next manager of the Addicks to join Sheffield United is causing more instability, snatching up targets both sides are interested in.

However, Russell Slade was announced as the new manager of the Addicks early this week, and Steve Head (newly appointed Chief Scout) and Slade will no doubt begin making a major push for key transfer targets, in order to secure and construct a team ready for a bounce-back promotion battle.
