Fenerbahce have emerged as a shock potential move for Steven Taylor when he leaves Newcastle at the end of this month.
Rangers were thought to be the favourites to sign the 30-year-old, but Fenerbahce are set to hold talks with him on Tuesday according to the Scottish Sun.
Fenerbahce are in the Champions League, which would of course be a massive step up from the Championship – a reverse Rafa Benitez, if you will.
This might also make them a more attractive prospect than Rangers, as well as the potential of a more lucrative deal.
However, moving to Turkey is obviously a big change from England or Scotland and moving away would be a huge change in his personal life.
Fenerbahce finished 2nd in the Turkish Super Lig and lost the Turkish Cup final to their bitter rivals, Galatasaray, and are looking to strengthen their side with more recruits from England.
They have signed Robin Van Persie, Lazar Markovic and Nani from England in recent years and are attempting to add Steven Taylor to that list.
Taylor spent 21 years and 13 seasons at Newcastle in a spell plagued with injuries, but has rejected an offer from the club to pursue a new start elsewhere.
