QPR set to give up on signing Brentford defender

QPR are close to giving up on signing Brentford’s Jake Bidwell according to a report from Get West London.

The R’s have been keen on signing the highly rated defender since the start of the transfer with the hope that they’d get him at a cut price rate because he only has one year left on his contract.

But the Bees have been holding out strong and are demanding at last £3million for the defender, a fee that QPR are completely unwilling to pay. That means that unless Brentford lower their valuation dramatically in the coming days, the R’s will give up on signing Bidwell and will look to other targets.

QPR now have a number of other options that they will look to. The first one is what they have ben doing for other recruits and look to Europe. This has been a new recruitment strategy for the club as they aim to cut down on transfer fees and wages with players being much cheaper on the continent. The West London club have also been looking at several players who have been released from other Football League clubs.

The last option is that they give a chance to their academy defender Cole Kpekawa a chance after he showed impressive form in the last few games of the season.
