Wimbledon star reveals odd hobby

AFC Wimbledon’s Lyle Taylor has revealed in comments made to Get West London an odd hobby he enjoys to help him unwind from football.

The striker has been in scintillating form this season after scoring 23 goals, including one in the 2-0 play off final victory over Plymouth Argyle into League 1, the highest the club has ever been since their reformation.

But Taylor has now that after a game he loves to play with a Rubik’s Cube before and after a game to help him relax. In the past he had been pictured with a Rubik’s Cube in the dressing room though he wasn’t able to play with it before the crucial game at Wembley.

Taylor said: “It wasn’t part of my warm-up today we didn’t really have time.”

“The way it is at Wembley – it’s so hectic and you have to get so much stuff done there isn’t really any time to do anything.”

“I like doing my rubix cube and it keeps me entertained.”

“I’ll lie in bed watching the TV doing it, it’s just one of those things. I’ll do it whenever I can.”

“I saw it the other day and took it from behind my TV and sat there doing it for about an hour. “It’s just fun and I enjoy doing it it keeps your mind going.”

“I’ve done it in about 1minute 57 second at the moment so I’m not going to be speedcubing that’s for sure.”

The Rubik’s Cube is a 3D puzzle toy that was invented in the 1970s but became famous in the 1980s after finally being licensed by a major toy company and ended up becoming iconic within the era. As Taylor as shown, the toy is still popular to this day and as of 2009 350 million Rubik’s Cubes have been sold.

And for your enjoyment, here is Lucas Etter completing a Rubik’s Cube in 4.9 seconds.
