Aston Villa aiming to sign Norwich midfielder

Aston Villa are considering making a bid for Norwich City’s Graham Dorrans, according to reports.

Dorrans was unable to keep Norwich in the Premier League last season and according to this report he won’t be sticking around to help the Canaries get back into the top tier on the first attempt and instead will be switching to one of their promotion rivals.

New Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo is familiar with Dorrans having manged him during his spell at West Bromwich Albion a few years ago.

Then Dorrans was one of the main men as West Brom eased to the Championship title and Di Matteo is hoping he will be able to play for the same role for Aston Villa.

For Dorrans this would be the perfect move as reports also suggest that doesn’t get on with current Norwich manager Alex Neil and switching to a team where he knows the head coach will suit him.

Dorrans started his career in Scotland with Livingston before making the move to Partick Thistle.

He moved south of the border in 2008 when he completed a £100,000 move to West Brom where he got promoted to the Premier League when working under Di Matteo. Then after a successful loan spell in 2015, Dorrans completed a permanent move to Norwich.
