The Iron chase out of favour Bristol City striker

League 1 club Scunthorpe United have contacted Bristol City to discuss the possibility of signing out of favour striker Wes Burns according to the Bristol Post.

The 21 year old Cardiff born forward’s Ashton Gate career looks to be in doubt with the club currently looking to sign a number of other new attacking options ahead of the new season.

The Robins are hoping to complete deals for attacking pair Lys Mousset and Lee Tomlin over the next few days while 20 goal striker Jonathan Kodjia is also set to play a key role for Lee Johnson’s side again next season after an impressive debut campaign with Bristol City.

Burns is a graduate of the academy set up at Ashton Gate and the player has gone on to make 44 senior appearances for the club and has scored four goals. The striker has often found himself on the fringes of The Robins first team and has been loaned out on a number of occasions to Forest Green, Oxford United and Cheltenham Town.

The striker’s latest loan move saw him join Fleetwood Town in February on a loan deal until the end of the season and Burns impressed in League 1 scoring five goals in 14 games as the Lancashire club narrowly avoided relegation back to League 2.

Burns is a former Wales Under 21s international and the player could be looking for regular football away from Ashton Gate in a bid to earn full international honours.
