Cheltenham midfielder hit with eight-game ban

League Two side Cheltenham Town will begin the new campaign without the services of influential midfielder Kyle Storer after he was banned for eight games by the Football Association for an alleged bite on a Lincoln City player, reports BBC Sport.

The 29-year-old appeared before the FA’s regulatory commission in London on Thursday following a clash with the Red Imps’ Bradley Wood during the final game of the Vanarama National League season on Saturday 30 April.

Both players were booked for an altercation on the touchline but Storer will now miss a sixth of the Robins’ league campaign following the FA’s decision. A statement on the Cheltenham Town website reads: “The club is awaiting the written report from the FA before considering any further course of action.”

Storer, who was an ever-present for the Robins in the league last season, scored in the game against Lincoln, which Cheltenham eventually won 3-1. The player has also received a £750 fine and been warned about his future conduct.
