Bournemouth’s Glenn Murray is in demand by Championship clubs who have been warned they will have to pay £2.5m for the forward.
Brighton Albion appear to be favourites with The Argus claiming that Albion want Murray to replace James Wilson and Bobby Zamora, who have left the club.
Murray is 32 – and will be 33 in September – and £2.5m is a lot of money for a player with little to no resale value, even though Bournemouth spent around £5m on him just a year ago.
Brighton are favourites to sign the striker as his son is already at the academy there, and much like the departing Zamora, had a successful spell there earlier on in his career.
However Fulham and QPR are also in the mix to try and sign the goalscorer who most recently bagged eight in 18 for Reading in his last Championship spell.
Brighton tried to sign Murray in January but Eddie Howe originally blocked the move, but is reportedly a lot happier to see the striker leave now.
Fulham may have cash to spend if they sell Ross McCormack, who is reportedly wanted by other Championship teams, but Murray may not be the out and out replacement for top scorer McCormack.
QPR are looking to bolster a squad who had a disappointing season and see Murray as a player who can grab the goals to help them climb the table.
