Lee Johnson set to return to Barnsley for Wright

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson could try to tempt former assistant manager Tommy Wright to Ashton Gate according to the Bristol Post.

Wright has been assisting Barnsley caretaker manager Paul Heckingbottom at Oakwell since Lee Johnson left the club for Bristol City back in February helping the South Yorkshire club to a Johnstones’ Paint Trophy and promotion double.

It has been reported that Robins boss Johnson could return to Barnsley to secure the services of Wright. Johnson worked with Wright at Oakwell for a year prior to his departure and is thought to be poised to make a second move for the Scot after his original approach was rejected back in February.

Should the Bristol City boss make a move for Wright, it is unknown what the future holds for current assistant manager John Pemberton. The former Sheffield United academy coach first moved to Ashton Gate in 2013 and has become hugely popular with the dressing room and any move to replace Pemberton with Wright could cause disruption amongst the players.

Lee Johnson has already been linked with moves for some of his former players with The Robins having previously been rumoured to be chasing Barnsley trio Adam Hammill, Alfie Mawson and Josh Brownhill.
