Akinfenwa goes Beast Mode on League Two play-off final

Adebayo Akinfenwa is an absolute beast, of that there is no doubt. Built like a boxer, with arms like ship’s cables, Akinfenwa is a shoe-in for ‘strongest on FIFA’ player EVERY iteration of the game.

He is also technically unemployed, after it was reported that he would be released by AFC Wimbledon when they release their ‘retained list’ – something that he picked up on in the Tweet below, a Tweet where he put a shout out for a job.

After signing for AFC Wimbledon from Gillingham at the start of the 2014/15 season, 34-year-old Akinfenwa has made 93 appearances for the newly-promoted League One side with ‘The Beast’ scoring 22 times and laying on 10 assists.

Actually, make that 23 times as the self-confessed strongman stepped up to snatch the ball off of a bemused colleague and stro…smash in a 97th minute penalty that was the cherry on top of the cake for AFC Wimbledon as they despatched Plymouth to consign the south coast side to another season in League Two.

Coming on as a 77th minute substitute, Akinfenwa caused consternation in the Plymouth box when a cleared corner was popped back in for Lyle Taylor to give the Londoners a 78th minute lead.

With the game’s result largely beyond doubt, and the game deep into time added on, AFC Wimbledon were awarded a penalty and even Mike Tyson would have been hard pressed to wrestle the ball from Akinfenwa who took the ball, argued his case, got his way and dispatched the penalty with power and grace – but mainly power.

So all that remains now is whether Akinfenwa’s pleas for a job get heard and whether anyone will be willing to step forward and give the 34-year-old striker a chance of new employ.
