Fulham, Reading and QPR chase Bournemouth striker

A trio of Championship clubs are racing to sign Bournemouth striker Glenn Murray this summer, according to a report.

It is understood that Fulham, Reading and Queens Park Rangers are all in the hunt for Murray, who is a proven goalscorer at Championship level.

Perhaps Murray’s best season as a professional footballer was the 2012-13 season with Crystal Palace.  The striker scored 30 goals in 42 league appearances for the club as Palace were promoted to the Premier League.

Murray didn’t play as often for Palace in the Premier League, and was loaned out to Reading in 2014-15 before being sold to newly-promoted Bournemouth at the beginning of last season.

Murray made only 10 league appearances for Bournemouth last term, scoring three goals.  Therefore it is believed that the striker could be leaving the club this summer.

Given Murray’s consistent form in the Championship, several clubs are said to be interested in taking the striker.  Fulham, Reading and Queens Park Rangers are among the favourites to do so.

All three of these clubs underachieved last year, with Reading sacking manager Brian McDermott last week.  Queens Park Rangers will be looking for a much higher finish next season with Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink able to put his stamp on the squad this summer.

At 32, Murray could provide vital experience to any Championship team, and also has the experience of promotion out of the league which can be important.
