Tom Lees was a once highly-rated youngster at Elland Road before a finger of blame needed to be pointed and errors apportioned.
Then he went from ‘once highly-rated’ to ‘figure of finger-pointing fun’ and a move to Sheffield Wednesday transpired.
At the time, there was a #tag that started to be bandied around on Twitter for supposed things going wrong at Elland Road – #BlameTomLees became the byword that many clung to when no other rational blame could be handed out.
To be fair, Leeds fans sat by in quite an annoyed manner as Lees seemed to grow in stature at Hillsborough, many Whites fans fearing that another good youngster had been hounded out of the club. The ‘BlameTomLees’ #tag became a thing of the past, lost in the annals of recent history and struck from the memory of Leeds United fans seemingly forever.

Until today and the 72nd minute of the Championship play-off final when a Lees’ error gifted the ball to ex-White Robert Snodgrass and his pass allowed Mo Diame to unleash a cracker into the top corner.
Cue the revival of the ‘BlameTomLees’ #tag
Lees mistake allows Leeds fans to revive old #tag
It wasn’r as if this was unexpected, one Twitter user predicting it would happen.
