League 1 Play Off Final – Match Preview

Two of League 1’s form sides meet under the famous Wembley arch on Sunday afternoon when Barnsley face Millwall in the League 1 Play Off Final.

Since the turn of the year Barnsley have seen a real upturn in their form losing just three of their last 28 fixtures in all competitions while Millwall go into the crucial clash unbeaten in their last six fixtures.

The South Yorkshire club go into the match without any fresh injury concerns as interim manager Paul Heckingbottom has the luxury of a fully fit squad to select his starting line up from.

Millwall make the short trip across London with concerns over defender Byron Webster and striker Lee Gregory. Webster is struggling with a hamstring injury while former non league goal machine Gregory has a groin problem and both players will be assessed prior to kick off at the national stadium.

Barnsley last played in the Championship in 2014 while Millwall are looking for a return to English football’s second tier at the first time of asking after last season’s relegation.

Barnsley recorded a league double over Millwall this season after winning 3-2 at The New Den in August while beating The Lions 2-1 at Oakwell in early January although the form book will count for nothing on Sunday afternoon when the two sides meet again in front of a large crowd at Wembley Stadium.
