David Haigh chose to speak to TV Yorkshire in an extended interview on the proviso that it was to be ad verbatim, nothing to be edited out.
Such was the scope of what Haigh has to discuss, that TV Yorkshire decided to ‘chop up’ the interview into more manageable, bite-size portions. What was obvious in the first two installments that the local TV channel issued was that David Haigh was in no mood to pull his punches.
Part One of the serialised episodes focused on new Leeds United owners Gulf Finance House’s inability to procure money when it was required and, when it was finally gotten, that it was pilfered unknowingly from client accounts of GFH customers who were under US political sanctions.
Part Two saw a shift in focus somewhat with Haigh developing the potless nature of GFH in that they had to beg the wife of former owner Ken Bates for ready cash, as well as how GFH deceived Sports Capital in their bid to buy a 75% majority share in Leeds United, with GFH reneging on the agreed period of exclusivity
Part Three (above) shifts the focus in a different direction, addressing the issue of Massimo Cellino’s buying of Leeds United, the continued ineptitude of owners GFH and the paranoid web being woven around Elland Road.
Unless specifically mentioned, all following quotations are taken directly from the embedded TV Yorkshire interview.
First up is a look at the mess facing Cellino and also the accusations levelled at David Haigh.
