Darlow has say on Newcastle promotion chances

Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow has had his say on the club’s chances of bouncing straight back up to the Premier League, according to a report.

Newcastle fans received some great news yesterday when Rafa Benitez confirmed that he was staying with the relegated club, signing a three-year contract.

This news means that Newcastle are favourites to be promoted next season, with such a big name managing the club.  However the Championship is a long season, and Benitez has no previous experience managing in the league.

One man who has plenty of Championship experience is Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who said: “This squad is far superior to anything else in the Championship.

“There’ll be a lot of talk about character and attitude but ability is important. The best teams will come to the top.”

Darlow, 25, made over 100 league appearances for Nottingham Forest before leaving the club to join Newcastle.  The goalkeeper with be hoping that his experience at this level can give him an edge over fellow goalkeepers Tim Krul and Rob Elliot.

With Benitez as manager, and several big names looking to stay at the club next season, there is no doubt that Newcastle look the strongest outfit in the league.
