Leeds United target given £1.5 million price tag

Leeds United’s transfer target, Greg Stewart, has been given a £1.5 million price tag by his club Dundee in an attempt to fend off potential buyers.

The striker has been in fine form for the Dees this season racking up 11 goals in all competitions, adding to the 15 he scored in the 2014-15 campaign.

Stewart is entering the final year of his contract at Dens Park but the club are seemingly reluctant to cash in on the striker this summer and would rather see him leave for free next year.

Dundee did offer the 26 year-old a new contract but this was rejected and it’s unlikely a new deal will be signed.

Leeds United will likely be dissuaded by the high price tag and could play the waiting to attain the attacker on a free transfer come the end of next season.

Formerly a youth player at Rangers, the Gers have also been linked with Stewart but their interest has seemingly cooled amid the news of the £1.5 million price tag.

Stewart has been one of four players on the shortlist for the PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year award for the past two years.
