Promoted Middlesbrough have dipped into the Dutch transfer market to bring in young Dane Viktor Fischer with Boro set to pay £3.8m to bring the youngster in from Ajax.
The Aarhus-born 21-year-old was a regular in the Ajax side before Christmas, scoring seven goals before Christmas, before falling out of full-time favour and playing only a bit-part over the rest of Ajax’s Eredivisie 2015/16 campaign.
A series of stuttering appearances saw the tricky wideman appear for a series of shortened cameo shows at the end of games, the Denmark international scoring just one more goal after the turn of the year.
With a fee being agreed for his services between Middlesbrough and Ajax, Fischer is ready for the green light according to his agent Soren Lerby who says: ““The clubs have agreed a price and now sits Fischer in an aeroplane on the way to Middlesbrough.”
