Leeds submit formal approach for Bristol Rovers boss

Championship side Leeds United have made a formal approach for Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke.

According to the BBC, the recently-promoted League Two club received the approach today.

The 38-year-old has enjoyed a successful season with the Bristol side, achieving automatic promotion from League Two to League One.

In the 2014/15 season, Rovers enjoyed promotion from the Conference Premier in the play-offs, meaning that Clarke achieved back-to-back promotions with the club.

In the 108 matches that he has overseen at the Bristol club, Clarke has won 57, drawn 24 and lost 27, boasting a 52.7% win ratio.

Current Leeds United Head Coach Steve Evans looks set to leave the club, despite still being under-contract until the end of next month.

Evans is still yet to be informed if he is moving on from the club or if he is to be offered a new contract.

If Clarke is appointed, he will become Leeds United’s sixth manager under Massimo Cellino. Brian McDermott, David Hockaday, Darko Milanic, Neil Redfearn, Uwe Rosler and Steve Evans have all been in charge since the Italian took over at the beginning of 2014.

The Whites finished this season in 13th place in the Sky Bet Championship, accumulating 59 points in 46 games.
