Fleetwood Town said to be interested in 30-goal French striker

After signing non-league 99-goal hotshot striker Ashley Nadesan as their first signing, there are reports coming from north of the border that another striker is also in their vision.

Not being content with a striker who scored 55 goals this past season for Horley Town, it appears that the Cod Army are also “reportedly” interested in 30-goal Dunfermline striker Faissal El Bakhtaoui according to the Daily Record and Sunday Mail.

As far back as March 31, the BBC Sport website recapped ‘football gossip’ and said that “Fleetwood Town manager Steven Pressley is weighing up a summer offer for Dunfermline Athletic striker Faissal El Bakhtaoui, the 23-year-old top scorer being out of contract at the end of the season,” quoting ‘The Sun, print edition’ as the source.

This was backed up in the Daily Record and Sunday Mail in saying that Fleetwood, alongside teams such as Aberdeen and Motherwell, had “all reportedly shown interest in the 23-year-old” with the French/Morrocan striker keeping his options open.

Speaking of interest in him, El Bakhtaoui said: “I know there is a lot of speculation about me. Some clubs are interested but nothing has happened yet. Dunfermline have not offered me a new contract but I have been talking to my agent about a new deal and stuff like that. I will meet my agent when the season is finished and we will take things from there.”

The St Tropez-born centre forward has 85 games under his belt for Dunfermline and has scored 40 goals in total whilst also providing 12 assists.
