Retained List: Leeds let 8 exit Elland Road

Although the managerial situation at Elland Road is somewhat unclear, the club are still making preparations for next season and have revealed their retained list today. A total of seven players will leave after not being offered contract extensions on their respective deals.

In addition to that, five more players have been offered new contracts, with two additional players being offered their first professional deals. The majority of those released are youngsters, but two are first-team players.

The first of those is striker Mirco Antenucci, who revealed a few weeks ago that he was set to leave the club anyway. Whilst it won’t be a surprise to hear the 31-year-old striker is departing, the fact it is now confirmed will hit the message home to Leeds fans. He had his critics, but his record was solid. He leaves after scoring 19 league gaols in 45 league starts. but he was also a regular substitute.

Ex-Manchester United youngster Scott Wootton is the second senior professional to leave Elland Road today. He has mainly been out of favour for a little while now, after previously enjoying a good run in the starting eleven. Since signing in August 2013, he made over 60 appearances for the club, scoring one League Cup goal in that time.

Also moving on is Eric Grimes, Ross Killock, Tom Lynam, Robbie McDaid, Jake Skelton and Lewis Walters.

Five have been offered new contracts, with highly-rated goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell amongst those. In addition to him, Tyler Denton, Frank Mulhern, Alex Purver and Eoghan Stokes have been offered extensions. Rolando Vieira has already signed a two-year deal.

Finally, three scholars have been offered professional terms with the Whites, those are Tom Pearce, Michael Taylor and Jack Vann. Loan players Liam Bridcutt, Tom Adeyemi and Mustapha Carayol all return to their parent clubs following the conclusion of their loan stints.
