East stand sponsor expands interest in Leeds United

Steve Parkin has long been mooted as a man intesrested in investing in Leeds United with some media sources saying the life-long businessman was ready to buy the club from embattled owner Massimo Cellino.

However, as late as March 18 this year Parkin said in a Financial Times article that he is so busy with running his business Clipper Logistics PLC that he simply doesn’t have time to devote to running a football club, so nixing the idea that he will ride in and save the club he loves.

However, the self-made multi-millionaire has had some input into Elland Road, his firm being the new sponsors of the East Stand awnings (below)

However, Parkin has slipped in another sponsorship deal with the club (below) in becoming the secondary shirt sponsor with online betting company 32Red securing a three-year deal last week as main shirt sponsor.

On signing on as secondary shirt sponsor, Clipper Logistics PLC founder Steve Parkin said that he was proud of how he could extend his company’s association with the Whites saying: “Clipper is a Leeds success story, and we’re proud to extend our association with Leeds United, a club I’ve followed my entire life and one that’s based just a stone’s throw from Clipper’s head office.

“The sponsorship of the East Stand was a significant move for us, and our association with the club has now been extended to this shirt deal, which I’m incredibly excited about. It will give the Clipper name exposure in front of a global TV audience, as we continue to grow as a business and help shape the future of retail logistics.”

On the club’s behalf, Executive Director Paul Bell said the club were also excited about the new link up adding: “We are delighted that Clipper Logistics Plc have extended their sponsorship and support of the Club to also become the secondary shirt sponsor at Leeds United.

“This new agreement will see the Clipper logo on thousands of Leeds United replica shirts next season and will ensure that the Clipper brand is worn by our fans worldwide.”
