Crucial Leeds directors meeting delayed 24 hours

A Leeds United board meeting which was scheduled to take place today (Wednesday) is believed to have been postponed until tomorrow (Thursday) according to the Yorkshire Evening Post. The meeting had been called by owner Massimo Cellino to discuss preparations for next season.

The future of current head coach Steve Evans, who is under contract until June 30th, was expected to be one of the topics discussed amongst club directors.

Several rumours have hinted towards the likelihood of Evans not being offered an extension and therefore leaving Elland Road, but no official word has come out of the club or Cellino at this stage.

In a past report, Cellino suggested that he would use this meeting to make a decision on Evans’ future.

At this moment in time, the Whites are without an academy director following Paul Hart’s decision to leave, and also a head of recruitment following Martyn Glover’s departure to Premier League side Sunderland. The future of the head coach is obviously up in the air as well, and several fans are concerned about the lack of a retained list at this stage.

Evans is the current favourite to be named the next manager of Championship rivals Nottingham Forest. The favourite to be his replacement at Leeds is current MK Dons manager Karl Robinson. Ivan Juric, who led Crotone to promotion into Serie A this season is another name being touted, along with Oldham boss John Sheridan and the now ex-Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores.
