Leeds United elements of 12 month plan delayed 24 hours

Planning and Leeds United are not often two words that you’d associate closely with each other, well not necessarily so anyhow. However, a board meeting planned for today, has been put back until tomorrow according to the Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP).

This is no ordinary board meeting however, but one that could have quite key elements involved that will shape the future of the Whites over the coming 12 months.

One of the talking points of what is called by the YEP a “key board meeting” will undoubtedly be the future of current head coach Steve Evans, a man whose contract ends on June 30 and who many think is already a ‘dead man walking’ when it comes to a renewal of terms.

Evans, who in making the end of the season from his mid-October appointment became Massimo Cellino’s longest-serving manager, is seen to be eking out the final weeks of his contract whilst media reports speculate about his successor – his position seeming a fait accompli.

Also thought to be on the agenda were notions away from Evans and focused on the footballing side of the club, something that fans are clamouring out for to happen. Cellino hinted at this when he spoke to the Daily Mirror on May 8th telling them: “I’m calling a board meeting for May 18 to plan for next season. I hope to have more time to plan football issues instead of lawyers and the Football League issue.”

Peering into the Cellino crystal ball and doing a little educated guesswork, it is also safe to say that there would likely be discussion around the paucity of staff at Elland Road atthe moment, Leeds lacking in three key areas. Since Paul Hart’s departure from the club, the Whites haven’t had an Academy director and the same can be said of Martin Glover and Richard Hartis whose positions of Head of Recruitment and goalkeeping coach will need filling.

Finally, another thing likely for discussion will be Leeds United’s ‘retained list’ of players that the club are holding onto next season, more interest obviously being paid to those who are being let go from the club.

However, in the interests of mystery and suspense, it seems that Leeds fans will have to wait until tomorrow for clarification and answers.
