Bristol City linked with move for want-away Rangers stopper

Championship club Bristol City could be set to make a summer move for out of favour Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell according to the Bristol Post.

The 29 year old stopper is believed to be desperate for a move away from Ibrox having spent the whole season behind goalkeepers Wes Foderingham and Maciej Gostomski in the pecking order at the club and Bristol City could line the player up as cover for the injured Frank Fielding.

Bell joined Rangers in summer 2013 and helped the club win the Scottish League One title in 2014. The Dumfries born stopper missed a large chunk of the following season in the Scottish Championship with a shoulder injury and an individual error in the Scottish Championship Play Off Final against Motherwell capped off a woeful season for the former Scotland international.

Since Mark Warburton arrived at the club as manager last summer, Bell has lost his place in the side and failed to make a single appearance for Rangers during their 2015/2016 Scottish Championship promotion winning season.

With Bell’s Rangers career looking to be coming to an end, it has been reported that Bristol City could make an attempt to sign the player. Richard O’Donnell is The Robins’ only senior fit goalkeeper with fellow keeper Frank Fielding currently out with an ankle injury and manager Lee Johnson is thought to be looking for cover in that position.

Bristol City also have youngster Max O’Leary on the books at Ashton Gate but the club are thought to want to loan the player out again next season to gain further first team experience.
