Middlesbrough interested in Gunners midfielder

Aitor Karanka could be set to offer Arsenal’s French international midfielder Mathieu Flamini an opportunity to prolong his career at Middlesbrough after Arsene Wenger admitted that the no-nonsense midfielder will be allowed to leave the Emirates this summer according to reports in The Daily Star.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that The French midfielder who previously played for AC Milan will leave Arsenal at the end of the season. However it is not certain whether the 32 year old will hang up his boots to concentrate on his biochemical business venture.

E2sB1QjjMiddlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has been alerted of the news and would like to add the tough tackling midfielder to his squad as he would bring much needed steel and experience having played at some top European clubs.

The Boro manager believes he still has plenty to offer and it is not thought that the move would hit any snags in terms of financial agreement as Flamini is no longer looking for a big pay day and is set to earn well from his new business venture.

Flamini is a high Premier league earner but some middle ground may be able to be found with Middlesbrough having money to spend following their promotion. He could be tempted by a new challenge and the prospect of helping a newly promoted team in The premier league.

A source said “At 32 Matty still has plenty of life left in his legs and would be an asset to Boro going into the Premier league”.
