QPR chase out of contract Burton Albion full back

Queens Park Rangers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is set to offer a contract to Burton Albion left back Damien McCrory according to Get West London.

The 26 year old is out of contract at The Pirelli Stadium this summer and could be set to be reunited with former boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Loftus Road.

The Limerick born defender started his career at Plymouth Argyle but never made a senior appearance for The Pilgrims and the player was loaned out to Port Vale (twice) and Grimsby Town during his time at Home Park.

McCrory left Plymouth Argyle in February 2010 to join Dagenham & Redbridge for a five figure fee. The player built his career in Essex and made 86 appearances for The Daggers and scored three goals.

The defender joined current club Burton Albion from Dagenham & Redbridge in summer 2012 and has gone on to enjoy a hugely impressive spell with The Brewers. After initially joining the club to provide competition at left back, McCrory has made the position his own making 175 appearances in four seasons at The Pirelli Stadium scoring 10 goals.

McCrory has played an important role for Burton Albion this season as the club sealed promotion to the Championship. The Brewers are likely to want to hold on to their player ahead of their debut season in English football’s top tier but they could face competition to secure the player’s services with Queens Park Rangers potentially able to offer McCrory a more lucrative deal.
