Bellusci discusses Leeds exit

Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci has been in discussions with former club Ascoli about potentially re-joining the club. Tutto Ascoli Calcio understands that the Italian centre back has been speaking to Ascoli sporting director Francesco Marroccu over the past week.

The 26-year-old was approached by the Serie A club, where he graduated through the academy, to determine if he would be at all interested in coming back and ending his two year stay at Elland Road.

Marroccu is said to be close friends with outspoken Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino and played a major part in both clubs concluded a deal for Tommaso Bianchi in a January loan move. The pair also have worked together in the past during their time at Cagliari.

Bellusci is understood to have continued his close association with Ascoli and is said to have travelled back to Italy to watch games during his visits back to his home country.

There is also the possibility that striker Mirco Antenucci, who is set to leave Leeds this summer, could end up back at Ascoli as well according to the same source.

There is every chance that Bellusci may wish to return back home after he ended the season out of favour and left out of Steve Evans’ matchday squad for a few games. At points in the season he showed good form at the heart of the defence, but has lacked consistency on occasions as well.

The player still remains under contract at Elland Road, so it could all depend on the financial package between the two clubs, should any deal take place.
