Former Leeds United stalwart John Sheridan is now the bookies favourite for the job – coming in at 6/4 while Zenga has drifted out to 4/1. Fabio Cannavaro and Dougie Freedman are 5/1 and 6/1 respectively.

51-year-old Sheridan played for the Whites for seven years between 1982 and 1989. In total, the midfielder played an impressive 270 games for Leeds and netted 53 goals during his time in Yorkshire.

Currently manager of Oldham Athletic, Sheridan has won seven of the 19 matches he has overseen since being appointed in January.

Previous to Oldham, Sheridan had a brief spell at Newport County, winning five, drawing six and losing five of the 16 games he was in charge for.

He has also had spells managing Plymouth and Chesterfield, winning the League Two title in 2010-11 and the Football League Trophy the following season whilst at Chesterfield.

Despite being favourite in the betting, it is unclear whether Cellino will choose to appoint the ex-Leeds man.
