Derby County, who lost their last regular season game 1-0 against visitors Ipswich, have today confirmed the severity of midfielder George Thorne’s leg injury.

Thorne, who moved to the iPro on July 19 2014 for a £1.7m fee from Premier League side West Brom, has a double lower leg break and will be out for around three months according to the club website.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who appeared in 34 games this season – with 32 starts, had scored twice and laid on three assists for the Rams before his injury in yesterday’s second half

Understandably, as the following Tweets display, the young defensive-minded midfielder is beside himself at not being able to feature in the play-offs that could very well see Derby promoted to the Premier League

With Thorne’s return being mooted at around three months, the youngster will have all on to be ready for the start of the 2016/17 season, be that in the Championship or via the play-offs and in the Premier League.

Until then, the young Derby star will have to be content with a place on the sidelines watching his teammates play-off campaign, a campaign that begins in the semi-final at home to Hull City next Saturday.
