Jose Riga to depart from the Valley with immediate effect

Jose Riga, the ex-Standard Liege manager, who attempted to protect Charlton from relegation down to League One has failed and has resigned following the final game of the season.

Anger and rage is pouring out of the Valley this afternoon as it is the last game of the season for fans to demonstrate their emotions, along with a few happy chants from the away fans as Burnley have secured the SkyBet Championship League Title.

Riga has often made it clear that Charlton holds a special place in his heart, and he has a great relationship with the players, including the club’s Player of the Year – Jordan Cousins – who said that Riga extracts optimal performance from him.

There have been reports that the Northampton Town boss – Chris Wilder, who secured the title and promotion for his side to League One – has been a massive target for the Addicks. A British manager, which is a change of strategy from the current regime and according to reports the South East London Club have forcefully pushed for his employment. However, many fans see it as pure fantasy and speculation as not many managers would want to take a seat at the currently spiralling down side.

Other fans speculate that it is time for another one of Roland Duchatelet’s network managers to take reigns once again – in particular Nebojša Vignjevic who was manager of Hungarian side -Nemzeti Bajnokság (another one of Duchatelet’s dismal experiments). This will be Duchatelet’s 7th Head Coach assignment since he took ownership of the Addicks back in January 2014 – to say there is a high level of volatility at the club is an understatement. When will this all end?

It would seem that our writer James was correct in assuming Jose Riga would be leaving.
