YOUNG PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND: Ashley Fletcher – Barnsley

Ashley Fletcher has had a really solid year on loan from Manchester United and while the 20-year-old has said he’s targeting a place in their squad next season, he may be key for Barnsley if they make the post-season.

Although it ended with a 2-2 draw against Colchester United, Fletcher was excellent again as he contributed with two good goals. The young forward used his pace and his composure to calmly put the Tykes in the driving seat, only for it to slip away in the eighth minute of added time.

The playoffs are still in their hands but they will have to beat Walsall at the weekend or hope that other results for Scunthorpe and Gillingham go their way. While their fans might not think it, even if they miss out, it’s been a solid season after their dreadful start and it will be a spectacular recovery if they do finish in the playoff places.
