Uwe Rosler

Ex-Leeds boss favourite to return with Bolton

Former Leeds United manager Uwe Rosler is the short-priced favourite to become the next manager of relegated Championship side Bolton Wanderers. After previously being around the 12/1 mark, the ex-Brentford and Wigan Athletic boss is now as short as 13/8 with one bookmaker to takeover at the Macron Stadium.

The 47-year-old German has been out of work since being dismissed by Massimo Cellino at the Elland Road club in October, despite only being appointed a few months earlier. He was almost instantly replaced by Steve Evans in the managerial hot-seat.

Rosler, who played well over 100 times for Manchester City in his playing days, has been looking to get back into management ever since his Leeds United episode. Although Bolton will be playing in League One next season, Rosler has experience of the division and guided Brentford to the play-off final in 2013.

Prior to linking up with Brentford in November 2010, the Altenburg-born former striker held three different managerial clubs at three different Norwegian clubs. He can count Lillestrom, Viking and Molde as the first three clubs on his managerial CV, before his three jobs in English football.

Speculation has been rife about who will replace Neil Lennon, who left the club a few months ago by mutual consent. Phil Brown, a former player and coach, as well as the current Southend United boss, has been heavily linked to the vacancy as well. Out of work Rosler could be a perfect fit for the club, as they look to plan an immediate return to the Championship, just as Rosler’s former club Wigan achieved over the weekend.
