York City’s truly miserable season continued as The Minstermen were demolished by Bristol Rovers at Bootham Crescent.
A double from Billy Bodin combined with strikes from Jermaine Easter and Lee Mansell helped Rovers to a 4-1 success with Kenny McEvoy scoring a consolation goal for the hosts.
The defeat was York City’s 26th in 45 league matches while The Minstermen have now conceded a whopping 86 league goals. Sections of the Bootham Crescent crowd have long lost patience with manager Jackie McNamara who received further criticism during this afternoon’s match.
With York City supporters understandably upset at the dreadful season witnessed at the club, fans took to Twitter to give their views on The Minstermen’s latest heavy defeat.
How can we go into the new season with any hope if Jackie is still in charge. Can't afford 2 sack him? We can't afford not to sack him #ycfc

To be fair to Jackie, making a team that was pretty terrible already even worse, is actually quite an impressive achievement #ycfc

An absolute shambolic embarrassment of a performance from a team not worthy of wearing the shirt. A joke of a season start to finish #ycfc

Embarrassing, shocking, shambles, no fight…… Just a few words to describe @yorkcityfc at present #ycfc
